Here's a little breakdown about me, including my education, employment, extra achievements in my life that I'm very proud of!
Employment
April 2024 - Present
FIDO Tech- Front End Engineer
Joined a small dev team as a front-end developer, working in a redux react app.
Despite the title of a front-end developer, many contributions were made to the full stack including:
- Python FastAPI backend
- MySQL database
- Github workflows
- Azure
Mentored the QA intern to create well-written, end-to-end tests using playwright on the full stack of the site, ensuring best practices were followed. Also contributed to dockerising both the Python FastAPI backend and the database.
November 2022 - April 2024
M3- Web Developer
Joined as a junior web developer and was promoted to mid level in January 2024.
Worked in an agile environment to produce high quality code accompanied with tests using a number of testing library, including jest and playwright. Gained experience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs within the micro-services architecture. Quickly picked up the workload of many different microservices of varying tech stacks including:
- React
- Next.js
- .NET
- React native
Took an active approach in team meetings and often driving the discussion. Experience of running stand up meetings and ensuring others point of view is always heard.
Experience using storybook for design system management.
Contributed to moving infrastructure over to AWS, while also gaining lots of experience using Terraform.
Contributed largely to the automated end to end tests using the Playwright library and deployed on AWS.
Awarded best performance in Q2 2023 for roll out of the student refer a friend project.
March 2022 - October 2022
Univer Labs- Trainee Developer
Contributed to multiple projects for a variety of clients. Through these projects, I gained all web skills mentioned in the skills section, most notably, typescript and react. Also gained experience with using git in a team. Projects include:

Worked closely with the lead developer to learn different languages and frameworks used in web development. Utilised previous expertise in machine learning and applied to a new environment.
Made redundant over company becoming insolvent.
Education
September 2018- March 2022
University of Bath- PhD Machine Learning
- Researched machine learning models using Python and PyTorch. Pint of Science 2020 Coordinator and teaching assistant in multiple modules.
- Withdrew before submission to start working in web development.
September 2017- September 2018
University of Birmingham- MSc Computer Science (Distinction)
Mainly learned java along with some python too. Studied a multitude of modules including: Introduction to Neural Computation, Machine Learning, Nature Inspired Search & Optimization, and Software Workshop. I also attended the cryptography lectures without being enrolled for expanding my knowledge further.
- Awarded the Distinguished Alumni Scholarship for excellent undergraduate degree.
- Achieved overall highest grade in the entire cohort.
September 2014- July 2017
University of Birmingham- BSc Mathematics (First Class with Honours)
Notible modules studied include Communication Theory & Combinatorics, Number Theory, Integer Programming & Combinatorial Optimization, Numerical Methods & Programming.
- Awarded the George Watson Scholarship for outstanding A-Level results
- Awarded "Best Presented Project" in Mathematical Modelling and Problem Solving Module.
Extra Achievements
Charity Marathon
Brighton Marathon 2023
In April 2023, I ran my first marathon for the British Heart Foundation. I raised £440 in total and ran the marathon in 5:12hr. I was hoping to run this faster, but I'm still very proud that I managed to finish this huge challenge, and raise some money for a great cause too!
University Fundraising Society
Carnival RAG
Carnival RAG is the University of Birmingham's Raising and Giving (RAG) society.
Charity Skydive
- Raised £409.85 for The Children's Society and participated in a tandem skydive.
- Awarded "Skydiver of the Year 2014/15" for all round enthusiasm and determination of fundraising.
Kilimanjaro Challenge
- Managed 24 students throughout the academic year to fundraise £68,254.79 for The Meningitis Research Foundation.
- Recruited the team, organised socials and group fundraising events, managed the team's fundraising and also kept the team morale high.
- Awarded "Outstanding Charity Leader of the Year 2015/16".
Treasurer for Carnival RAG 2016/17
- The society raised more funds from in-house events in Autumn 2016 than the entire academic year 2015/16.
- The society was highly commended as “Outstanding Volunteering Group” at the 2017 Guild Awards.
University Departmental Society
MathSoc
- President of the Maths Society 2016/17
- Increased participation in all events and increased overall membership by 40%.
- Introduced a new volunteering scheme which gave members the opportunity to gain experience in teaching and mentoring.
- Held new events for our members to engage socially and also raised more money for the society's charity of the year than ever before.
- Awarded first ever Guild Award for the “Most Improved Society 2017”. The society also won 3 awards at the EPS Awards 2017:
- Volunteer of the Year (to the Volunteering Officer)
- Diversity and Inclusion Award
- Role Model of the Year (awarded to myself)
